ARTISTIC DIRECTOR
A graduate in contemporary dance from the Université du Québec à Montréal (1987), Hélène Langevin founded the collective Brouhaha Danse in the late 1980s with three fellow choreographers who shared her creative spark. Nearly ten years later, in 1996, she created her first work for young audiences, Roche, Papier, Ciseaux—a true turning point for someone who had been teaching creative dance to children since her early twenties.
In 2000, the choreographer founded Bouge de là, and from that moment on, the company’s activities have been devoted exclusively to creating performances for children aged 3 to 12. Throughout her career, the artistic director has explored various art forms and deepened her research on the moving body, with the primary goal of delving into theatricality and developing a language that allows her to better convey her vision of movement to children.
Balancing pedagogy and creation, Hélène Langevin has been sharing the joy of dance with children for nearly 40 years. Her secret: her choreographies leave ample room for their imagination and their own creativity. And her young audiences always come back for more.

JOURNEY
In 1987, after completing her studies in contemporary dance at UQAM, Hélène Langevin co‑founded the collective Brouhaha Danse with Ginette Ferland, Rolline Laporte, and Guylaine Savoie. The collective quickly stood out for its festive creations, in‑situ happenings, and its taste for street theatre, circus, and performance art. Among other works, she created Brouhaha (1987) and Ça frise la frénésie (1988).
At the same time, she had been teaching creative dance to children since the age of 20. In 1996, she created her first work for young audiences, Roche, Papier, Ciseaux, which proved to be a turning point, revealing her deep affinity with the world of childhood. In 2000, she founded Bouge de là, a company entirely dedicated to creating performances for children aged 3 to 12, where she has been sharing the joy of dance for more than 25 years.
ARTISTIC APPROACH
Driven by a desire to explore various art forms, Hélène Langevin integrates video, theatre, visual arts, and even shadow play into her choreographic works. Placing the child at the heart of her creative process, she develops a unique stage language designed to spark imagination and help young audiences connect with movement.
Her creative process is rooted in true collaboration: she proposes a theme to her artistic team to initiate the research, then draws inspiration from the ideas that emerge to build the choreography. The performers thus nourish her choreographic writing — their personalities and their unique ways of moving become the raw material. She often describes herself as a conductor or a painter, guiding the group while remaining attentive to individual nuances. The performers’ stage presence and their ability to communicate weave an essential link between the creation, the themes explored, and the young audience.
VISION AND TRANSITION
In 2019, Hélène Langevin’s artistic vision was recognized by the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, which awarded her production À travers mes yeux the prize for Best Choreographic Work 2018–2019: “We see what animates, captivates, and resonates with children — what clearly resonated just as strongly with the adults on this jury. Everything contributes to creating a compelling performance: movement, scenography, lighting, costumes, music. From beginning to end, the choices are thoughtful, creative, and remarkable.”
Committed to ensuring the continuity of dance for young audiences and the legacy she has built within Bouge de là, Hélène Langevin has undertaken a transition process for the company’s artistic direction. The appointment of Audrey Bergeron as Associate Artistic Director in 2026 marks an important step in this transmission. The transition will be completed in January 2027, when she officially takes over as Artistic Director of Bouge de là.

ASSOCIATE ARTISTIC DIRECTOR
Audrey Bergeron is a contemporary dance artist who graduated from the École de danse contemporaine de Montréal (EDCM) in 2005. As a performer, choreographer, teacher, and cultural mediator, she cultivates a multifaceted practice with audiences ranging from early childhood to older adults, developing a refined understanding of transmission and accessibility in dance.
Her career is marked by significant collaborations with Bouge de là, Omnibus, O Vertigo, Le Radeau, and Line Nault. These experiences shape a sensitive artistic approach where movement, presence, relationship, and interdisciplinarity intersect.
As a choreographer, her works have been presented in Quebec and internationally. She is the creator of Pixels (2015), Par le chas de l’aiguille (2016), and VERSO (2020), and co‑creator — alongside Hélène Langevin — of the young‑audience productions GLITCH (2022) and Un nuage dans mon ventre (2024).
A master practitioner in hypnosis, she explores the connections between hypnotherapy and the performing arts, reflecting a deep interest in human experience and the transformative potential of movement. Her commitment to young audiences is rooted in the conviction that dance is a direct language capable of engaging children’s imagination and supporting their emotional development.
In 2026, she was appointed Associate Artistic Director of Bouge de là as part of a succession process that will lead her to take over from Hélène Langevin in 2027.

A multifaceted journey
Audrey Bergeron is a contemporary dance artist who graduated from the École de danse contemporaine de Montréal (EDCM) in 2005. Her career stands out for the diversity of roles she embraces, combining performance, creation, teaching, and cultural mediation. This breadth of experience has led her to work with audiences ranging from early childhood to older adults, allowing her to develop a nuanced understanding of transmission and accessibility issues in dance.
Significant collaborations
As a performer‑creator for young audiences, Audrey Bergeron has contributed to Bouge de là’s productions Vieux Thomas et la petite fée (2008) and L’Atelier (2013). Her involvement with the movement‑based improvisation league Les Imprudanses strengthened her expertise in improvisation, while her participation in Omnibus productions—Jabbarnack (2012), La couleur du gris (2012), and Rue Fable (2014) —expanded her practice in physical theatre and dramaturgy.
The three years she spent with O Vertigo (2013–2016) offered opportunities to push her physical limits and refine her movement quality, particularly in partnering work. This experience led to a collaboration with Jens Van Daele’s Burning Bridges and Ginette Laurin for Tierra (2016), presented during an extensive tour in the Netherlands, followed by a more intimate collaboration with Ginette Laurin for Les passantes (2021), presented in the Îles‑de‑la‑Madeleine.
She also contributes to Mouvement de passage, a series of danced and musical visits in long‑term care homes (CHSLDs), created by Ariane Boulet within Le Radeau. Her ongoing collaboration with Line Nault — SuperSuper (2018), Non de nom (2021), Récits‑Récifs (2023), and Entretiens (in creation) — has given rise to performative works that bring the sensitive body into dialogue with digital arts.
As a choreographer, her works Pixels (2015), Par le chas de l’aiguille (2016), and VERSO (2020) have been presented in Quebec and abroad. At Bouge de là, she co‑created GLITCH (2022) and Un nuage dans mon ventre (2024) with Hélène Langevin, before beginning development on the company’s 11th creation in 2026. That same year, she was appointed Associate Artistic Director of Bouge de là as part of a succession process that will lead her to take over from founder Hélène Langevin in 2027.
