Joannie Douville graduated from the University of Quebec in Montreal (UQAM) in dance performance in 2009. Two years later, she also completed a certificate in psychology. She then joined the Dave St-Pierre Company for 7 years.
In her quest for those for whom dance carries the most meaning, she took up physically integrated dance with Corpuscule Danse (France Geoffroy) and youth dance with Bouge de là (Hélène Langevin) over 5 years ago. A close collaborator of La Fratrie company, she has also joined forces with Je suis Julio —a platform for creators— ever since it was founded.
Joannie is pursuing a Master’s in arts education at UQAM after having taught in a wide variety of settings for many years. As part of the Ministry of Culture and Communications’s Culture à l’école program, she has acted as an artist in schools. She is an instructor for the Regroupement québécois de la danse and in Bouge de là’s back-to-school classes as well as an Aeküus facilitator. Finally, she provides professional dancers at home and abroad with internships.
