The Random Story Project

The Random Story Project

Started in March 2020, the On the Move with Bouge de là fundraising campaign continues with today’s launch of The Random Story Project. This fundraising campaign is an opportunity for us to invite school groups to share our creative approach through cultural mediation workshops to be organized during our stays at the Maison culturelle et communautaire de Montréal-Nord in 2021.

Inspired by the collaborative approach of our artistic director, Hélène Langevin, The Random Story Project encourages you to participate in a creative process with Hélène and her performers. The idea is simple: you suggest words that will be translated into movement by our dancers and integrated into a final epic choreography to be revealed online on Friday, November 13.

To participate, just take a book that you and your child enjoy and select one or more words that you would like to see turned into movement by our dancers.

A $20 donation allows you to submit the first word. You can then submit additional words—up to a total of six—for a $10 donation. You are more than welcome to top up your donation, of course. All the funds raised will be used to create and host six workshops with school groups held during our artistic residences.

Cultural mediation workshops in Montréal-Nord

As a dance company in residence at the Maison culturelle et communautaire de Montréal-Nord, where we have created all our shows since 2008, Bouge de là is committed to bringing several cultural actions into borough schools each year. During the six scheduled weeks of residence in 2021, we hope to invite four classes to discover the creative process behind a professional dance production. Based on dialogue, these workshops will enable the participants to work with the dancers in creating the company’s next show.

Our financial goal to achieve this project is $3,000.

A priceless gift for children

Students participating in our workshops will enjoy a unique experience that will develop their artistic sensitivity and understanding of the creative steps in a professional production.

Children will have the opportunity to:

  • attend rehearsals with our creative team;
  • discuss the dramatic direction and choreographies proposed by the company;
  • learn about stage accessories (lighting, scenery, video effects and the fog machine);
  • discover what goes on backstage;
  • dance with our dancers;
  • give their creativity free rein!
Testimonials

“I enjoyed doing the same movements as the dancers. Normally, I don’t like dance, but I loved this! Really cool to come here during school. Can we come back tomorrow?” Jérémie, grade 5, École Sainte-Gertrude, Montréal-Nord

“At the end of our first residence, right after the public presentation, a group of six children joined us on stage with every intention of creating a shiva like the one during the show. So we helped them, lent them our stage glasses and had a photo session. It was an extraordinarily creative and artistic exchange!” Myriam Tremblay, dancer, Bouge de là
